What President Bush Means to Say (10/3/02)

by Dean Hartwell

Whereas war and war alone has made President George W. Bush popular,

Whereas the "War against Terrorism" has stalled without apprehension of Osama bin Laden,

Whereas war and the execution of people are the only two issues about which President Bush speaks coherently,

Whereas Karl Rove has convinced President Bush that the public trusts Republicans in wartime more than Democrats,

Whereas Saddam Hussein is as good a villain as it gets,

Whereas President Bush's father failed to finish Hussein off almost a dozen years ago,

Whereas most of the public will buy the unproven theory that Iraq has nuclear capacity and weapons of mass destruction,

Whereas much of the Bush Administration deflects attention from the slow growing economy, corporate fraud, the budget deficit and other domestic problems,

Whereas much of the Bush Administration's defense and national security teams avoided service in Vietnam and now want their chance to assert their hawkishness

It is Resolved that the United States of America will invade Iraq as soon as opinion polls show that the public cares more about domestic issues than Iraq AND Karl Rove gives the green light.
